The People Behind Gamers Beat Cancer
Our team brings together gamers, peer supporters and people with lived experience of cancer, all committed to protecting mental health along the cancer journey.
Meet the Team
Every role at Gamers Beat Cancer is focused on one goal: helping people feel less alone.

Peer Support Coordinator
Coordinates one-to-one and group peer support sessions, making sure every member of the community is welcomed and listened to. Brings experience of supporting players through emotionally difficult periods.

Community Volunteer Lead
Leads the volunteers who keep our online spaces friendly and safe. Works closely with gaming communities to organise events that bring people together around a shared hobby.
How We Work Together
Our team combines lived experience, professional care and the power of play.
Lived experience at the centre
Many of our team have personal experience of cancer, either as patients, carers or family members. This shapes how we listen, how we respond and how we make space for difficult feelings.
We believe that people who have walked a similar path can offer understanding that is hard to find elsewhere.
- Supportive, non-judgemental listening
- Clear signposting to trusted services
- Respect for every person and every background

Our Approach, Step by Step
A simple outline of how our team supports the community.
Listen first
Every conversation starts by understanding what the person needs, whether that is someone to talk to, practical information or a space to play.
Connect
We link people with peer support, gaming groups or professional services that match their situation and their preferences.
Support over time
Cancer journeys change. We check in, adapt our support and keep the door open for people at every stage of diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
Why Our Team Cares
Gaming gave me somewhere to escape when treatment felt overwhelming. Knowing that the people running this community understand that is what makes it feel safe.
